I am an IT Technician by trade, and my responsibilities consist, when employed as a subcontractor, to repair and install hardware, network systems, and operating system as well as office applications. It is very important in my professional field to be up to date in all Microsoft’s software. I am presently a resident of The Hope Found Foundation and their objective is to assist men and women who are homeless to fine housing and employment. My case manager’s goal and mine was to upgrade my education, and to enhance my certifications and experiences to become employable at the age of 53.
While attending OLLR at the South End Technology Center I had the opportunity to advance through the usage of both Apple’s hardware and software, also Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system and Office 2007. As technician the dual boot system gave me both worlds at the same time. I loved it!
Further the classroom training gave me the opportunity to give back to my community where I have taken so much from it. That is another story at another time! By helping my fellow classmates with the support of the classroom instructors I was given the opportunity, in providing to my classmates in education and experience I obtained. The resources provided by Timothy Smith Program such as; Microsoft Digital Literacy Certificate, Office Excel, Word, Access and resume building are the needed skill to help me or anyone to become employable.
My goal is to have further training in Microsoft’s Certification Programs which will lead me to become a teacher in the Information Technology field. I am thankful of the resources provided by Timothy Smith Program such as; Microsoft Digital Literacy Certificate, Office Excel, Word, Access and resume building they are the needed skill to help me or anyone to become employable.
Through hard work the reward for completing the program was special training I received, new friends and my new high tech Samsung Notebook.
