This course covers the following topics:
- PC BASICS: An introduction to hardware, software and common PC terms;
how to boot your PC; logging in and using passwords; keyboard practice, mouse
skills.
- INTRODUCTION TO WINDOWS: What is Windows?; the Windows desktop; graphical
user interface and multitasking.
- WINDOWS USER INTERFACE: Desktop design and its major components, including
the Start menu and taskbar; Start menu components; Windows window structure;
using menus, the taskbar and the keyboard to navigate among Windows components;
shutting down and rebooting the PC.
- THE EXPLORER: Using the Explorer, using the Explorer menus and toolbar;
using disk drives and folders; creating, copying, moving and deleting folders
and files.
- INTRODUCTION TO WINDOWS APPLICATIONS: Quick introduction to Microsoft
Word and Excel; how to print a document or spreadsheet
- OTHER FEATURES: Using the Recycle bin; creating a shortcut; Explorer options;
use of long file names; formatting a diskette; Control Panel utilities.
