Description: 

HELP is a Human Services training program offered Monday through Friday from 9 to 3 for 8 consecutive weeks. The program prepares students to become entry-level Direct Support Professionals. Students learn the essentials of Human Services work through a combination of lecture, interactive classroom activities, group discussion, readings, role plays, research, and internship assignments. Students gain an understanding of relevant terminology and methods, approaches for motivating others and supporting client progress, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and identifying career paths. Through the HELP program, graduates become qualified to fill the increasing need for caring, professional workers in community residences, shelters, day programs and other Human Services settings.

Prerequisites: 

• Must be 21 or older
• Must have high school diploma or GED
• Must be willing to commit to 2nd, 3rd, weekend, and holiday shift schedules
• Must be willing to submit to a Criminal Background Check (CORI)
• Must have a valid US drivers license in good standing
• Must pass academic, ethical, and computer screenings
